Could you befriend someone with autism?

"I wanted to do something which was challenging, worthwhile and fun - volunteering as a befriender has proved to be all 3!"

Befrienders spend a few hours a week with an adult or child with autism or Asperger syndrome or their family.  Befrienders can help break the wall of isolation for families and individuals whose lives are affected by autism.  Befriending is very much a two way thing and is extremely rewarding.

Click here to find out what families with a befriender have said and here to find out what a befriender might do with the individual they befriend.
