Speech and Language Therapy Service
The
Speech and Language Therapy Service is based at the William
Knott Centre, Overdale, Westmount Road, St Helier and services
are delivered at various locations throughout the Island. The
Speech and Language Therapy Service has an open referral
system, accepting referrals from the client themselves, parents,
carers and other professionals.
Speech and Language Therapists are specialists in communication
disorders and work to assess, diagnose and develop a programme
of care to maximise the communication potential of people
referred to the service. Speech and Language Therapists also
work to support people with swallowing, eating and drinking
difficulties.

Learning Disability Partnership Board
Users
(of services), their Parents or Carers meet and discuss the
present-day services they are getting and those they really need
with the people who provide these services. In addition to
representation by Autism Jersey, other charities that you
already know-of, like Mencap or Les Amis, and States’ funded
services like Health and Social Services, Education and Housing
etc also attend the meetings. It is an opportunity for people
who need and use the services to get their message across and
discuss with the Providers of those services what improvements
are needed and how to make them. A two-way exchange that helps
both Users and Providers get the best for Users. After all,
the Board is there to help the Users.
The
meetings are held at the Oakfield building at Highlands used by
JET on the last Tuesday of every month for 2 hours - starting at
10 a.m. Contact Ros Byrne-Shore on 01534 888127 for more details
or to put your name on the pre set agenda mailing list. |
