Sibling Group

Allows brothers or sisters of a child with autism to relax.

Can you imagine what it might be like to be the brother or sister of the child who has an autism spectrum disorder? They may often feel scared of the behaviour of their sibling, or pick up on their many anxieties, or they may simply feel that the family's attention is always on their sibling. The family might have to plan their whole daily life around the child who has autism.

Autism Jersey’s Siblings Group meets once a month, allowing brothers and sisters of a child with autism to have some time to themselves to relax, go on outings and also be connected to new friends who will understand what it's like to be a sibling in a family where there is autism.

The group also offers a chance for siblings to ask questions and find out more information about the autism spectrum.

We have had eight sibling’s days since January 2019, ranging from pizza making at Pizza Express to Tennis at both Les Vaux and St Clement Tennis and Golf Club, which have been a huge success.

Most recently we had a sibling’s day with Wild Adventures Director Kazz Padidar which the children thoroughly enjoyed and would like to experience again.
